How our scoring works

Last updated: 29 June 2026

A transparent look at how MoveMap ranks the 27 EU countries for you, and what the numbers can and cannot tell you.

What the check does

When you complete the quiz, MoveMap scores each of the 27 EU countries against your specific answers across several dimensions, then ranks them from best to worst fit and highlights your top matches.

The dimensions we score

Each country's overall fit is a weighted blend of these dimensions:

  • Financial Fit: 20% of the overall fit
  • Documents Fit: 20% of the overall fit
  • Lifestyle Fit: 15% of the overall fit
  • Citizenship Path Fit: 15% of the overall fit
  • Language Fit: 8% of the overall fit
  • Relocation Risk: 8% of the overall fit
  • Housing Risk: 7% of the overall fit
  • Healthcare / Family Fit: 7% of the overall fit

How your answers shape the result

Your answers adjust how each country scores. Some dimensions are fit factors, where higher is better (such as finances or lifestyle), and some are risk factors, where lower is better (such as document risk or housing pressure). The report also shows a confidence level, which reflects how complete and consistent your answers were.

Where our numbers come from (the honest part)

This matters, so we are upfront about it: the country attributes behind the scores are rough, illustrative estimates that we maintain to drive the model. They are directionally reasonable, but they are not official statistics.

Real costs, salaries, taxes, visa rules and timelines change over time and depend on your exact situation. Use the ranking to shortlist countries and decide where to look deeper, then confirm the specifics with official sources before making any decision.

What it is not

MoveMap is an educational tool, not legal, immigration, tax or financial advice. It helps you narrow down where to focus; it does not replace official guidance or a qualified professional.
